How this works

ISO writes standards; it does not certify organizations. Certificates are issued by independent certification bodies, and the ones worth having are accredited by a national accreditation body that is a member of the International Accreditation Forum. Getting there usually involves some combination of implementation work, internal audit, training and then the certification audit itself — often with different providers for each part.
